Active Directory Integration

Active Directory (AD) is an implementation of LDAP directory services by Microsoft for use primarily in Windows environments. Its main purpose is to provide central authentication and authorization services for Windows-based applications. Active Directory stores information and settings in a central database.

Active Directory is a directory service used to store information about the network resources across a domain. An Active Directory’ (AD) structure is a hierarchical framework of objects.

The objects fall into three broad categories: resources (e.g., printers), services (e.g., email), and users (user accounts and groups).

The reasons for using AD integration with the Red Box voice recorder are three-fold:

1) Removing the absolute need to create users on the recorder.
2) Removing the need to store passwords on the recorder.
3) Tracking of (internal) telephone numbers using AD.
